WOVEN BY ALLISON
December 2016/January 2017
Wrap Battle winner, December 2016
Boundless was a wrap battle challenge against two other weavers. We were all given the same inspiration photo, create our own interpretation of it, and make a beautiful wrap! It was an amazing experience, and I was thrilled with the result, even before it was named as the winner of the December 2016 battle!
This was my first dyed warp, and was created by painting the 8/2 ring spun cotton warp yarn in chains to mimic the colors of the landscape inspiration photo, in tones of yellow, orange, blue, and purple. The transitions between the dye colors all blended so well with the choice of 8/2 hand-dyed tencel weft in variegated tones of grey.
The sister piece on Boundless was a semi-custom that was woven with a variegated hand-dyed 8/2 tencel in tones of teal. It also features the first twisted fringe on a Wayward wrap.
